San Cristóbal de La Laguna: The City

La Laguna is the third most populated municipality of the whole Canary Islands. Despite La Laguna is a little bit older than 500 years, it is a young and vibrant small city with an exciting cultural life. The streets of La Laguna are always ready to captivate the taste of its visitors with a wide variety of restaurants to choose among, many of them offering typical local flavours, cozy cafes with terraces or pubs and small discos to relate with the inhabitants of the whole island while enjoying tunes mixed by top local DJ’s. But for those who prefer to leisurely stroll through the city, La Laguna offers many alleys, squares and a wide range of relaxing day trips to the visitor who will be enchanted by the light that illuminates the façades and roofs of the city.

The outskirts of the city are worth to be visited too, as La Laguna is a city that links mountains and ocean. Only 15 minutes in a car from La Laguna the visitor can find Las Mercedes mount and to discover a unique several millions years old laurel forest hidden by an almost magical fog. On the opposite direction, only 20 minutes in a car driving north east, Bajamar and its wonderful natural salt water pools or a little bit further Punta del Hidalgo a unique setting that will captivate you.
